Punocracy is a community of young Nigerian writers of satire. The Prize for Satire, now in its fourth edition, gives young writers a platform to use wit, irony and humour to comment on society, politics and nation-building.
Who can apply
- Young Nigerian writers who will be between 15 and 30 years old as of December 2026
- This is an age-based competition, so students at any level can enter
Rules to note
- Satire means writing that uses wit, irony, sarcasm or ridicule to criticise faults
- Entries generated with a large language model (AI) are not eligible
- Longlisted entries are published on the Punocracy website, and winners are announced before the end of 2026
Prizes
- 1st prize: ₦350,000
- 2nd prize: ₦200,000
- 3rd prize: ₦150,000
